Logistics Construction Planning
The building in symbiosis with its surroundings
In logistics construction planning, we consider the building together with the associated transport logistics (keyword: delivery and pick-up) on the customer’s property. It is essential to optimally incorporate the requirements of the warehouse and delivery logistics technology in the building. The know-how around the implementation of the requirements of the warehouse technology in the building is crucial here.
The actual logistics building planning proceeds from the preliminary design to the draft design to the building submission. Parallel to each planning step are cost evaluation and scheduling for the implementation phase. All planning and construction phases are linked by regular and intensive coordination with the planners and builders of the logistics technology. Only through this close cooperation can the plant succeed. At the end of the erection phase, commissioning takes place and the contract is awarded to the client.
Our solution
At Lorenz Consult, we act as a “one-stop store”: As general planners, we work closely with the client and the logistics technology supplier from the initial idea to the commissioning. We plan the logistics building and its traffic connection away from the public road to the site.
During the planning of the logistics building, we ensure that all the requirements of building law, in particular fire protection, noise and light issues, and energy efficiency are met or implemented in such a way that the purpose of the building can be optimally fulfilled.
Coupled with our technical knowledge, we pay attention to cost stability and adherence to schedules.
We invite tenders for construction services, provide support in the awarding of contracts for these services and, as the local construction supervisor, handle the implementation. The important thing here is the scheduling and technical interface with the logistics technology supplier.

The challenge
- Increasing customer demands on products and delivery readiness: This is changing logistics concepts.
- Resilient supply chain management: The readiness and ability to deliver must be guaranteed even in the event of disruptions in the supply chain.
- Storage requirements regarding temperature and humidity are increasing.
- The increased level of automation affects building structure and equipment.
- Fire protection requirements have an impact on contiguous storage areas.
- The operating hours of the logistics building often diverge from delivery and pick-up traffic. The traffic-related development must also be taken into account.
- Due to the traffic, environmentally relevant issues such as noise protection, surface drainage, etc. come into play.
- Planning should be as economical as possible: logistics buildings are “not productive” but “necessary”.
Your added value
With Lorenz Consult, you have a single point of contact for logistics construction planning and implementation. We have years of experience and knowledge of how to plan and construct a logistics building in such a way that it ensures the function of the logistics technology integrated in it. We speak the language of logistics technologists and understand their requirements.
